Working Papers
To hold a job in New York State, those ages 14-17 need an employment certificate or "working papers."
Here is the process for students to obtain working papers:
- Download and complete the Application for Employment Certificate – AT-17.
- A parent or guardian must sign Part I of the application. Working papers cannot be issued without this signature.
- A physician must sign the Physical Fitness Certification form or you must have a physical not more than a year old.
- Mail your completed application and a copy of one form of identification (birth certificate, passport, driver’s license or permit) to: Tappan Zee High School, ATTN: Ms. Shanley – Main Office, 15 Dutch Hill Road, Orangeburg, NY 10962. Paperwork may also be emailed to mshanley@socsd.org. Please include a phone number in case Ms. Shanley has questions regarding the application.
- The working papers (card) may be mailed back to the applicant or picked up from the Security Desk between 7:30AM-3:30PM. Indicate which option you choose when submitting the application.
